Information about the classes we offer

Beginners classes

If you are new to working with clay or want to go over the basics again, one of our beginner's classes is the perfect way to start. The Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening beginner's run over seven weeks and give you a structured introduction to hand-building with clay - pinching, coiling, and building with slabs as well as the more unusual Japanese-inspired kurinuki. We will explore several types of surface decoration and  glazing and you will have a taste of throwing and turning over two weeks.

If you would prefer to focus on throwing the Tuesday and Thursday classes are suitable for beginners or those with a little bit of experience and will focus completely on the wheel. All materials are included in the class fees and there is a small additional charge for firing by weight of finished glazed work.

Learning to throw taller, wider, multipart, and with extra components. You will be guided through a wider range of glazing choices to create truly unique pieces.
