The mark of the maker and the maker's mark
Eastbourne Studio Pottery will be celebrating the obsessive, idiosyncratic nature of the studio potter and explore the notion of the ‘mark of the maker’ and the ‘maker’s mark’ in an immersive exhibition at Volt Gallery & Project Space from 20th May to the 4th July 2021.
The installation will include an eclectic selection of tools and resources gathered over a lifetime of making. Rich with the patina of use, ad-hoc repurposed objects adapted to perform particular tasks, an alchemist’s stash of raw materials and clay left in its damp, unfired state – mid process.
We will be running a series of special workshops at the gallery during the course of the exhibition to explore the techniques on display and make objects to include in the exhibition.
