We were asked by the lovely people at Port to collaborate on their midweek offers with an opportunity for their guests to escape with two afternoons of pottery classes running through November and December.
Port is a beautiful new hotel just minutes walk from the studio, we were delighted when Peter invited us to have a tour of the hotel before it opened. The choice of materials used to refurbish the Victorian building are stunning and the attention to detail is incredible. The main reception and lounge features a selection of ceramics hand-crafted by our very own Karen Peters!
During the stay, guests will be guided by the our expert tutors, learning how to throw on the wheel,
turn their work to refine its shape and have an introduction to the ancient Japanese craft of Kurinuki. Across two afternoons, guests will work on the pottery wheel to create beautiful cups or bowls in our gorgeous flecked stoneware clay. Everyone will choose their three best pieces to be fired and glazed ready for the studio to carefully pack and post home.
